Our May meeting was vibrant and diverse, with a good turn-out.
We introduced our new BDARS Shop/Storekeeper – George VK4GNG
George is taking over running the BDARS store (coax, connectors, BDARS shirts and the like. If members have any suggestions for other items the BDARS store should stock, please let us know. One thought is a roll of ladderline. We sold several BDARS polo shirts on the night.
Scott VK4MGL shared his experience of last weekend’s activation of parks at Pilliga State Forest in NSW. A group of approx twenty avid POTA and SOTA enthusiasts enjoyed portable operation without residential electrical noise.
At the end of Monday night’s meeting, we discovered that Saeed VK4SLC, a new member from Kangaroo Point, had brought a small transmitter that he had homebrewed. The transmitter was on a fixed 80 m frequency and can operate on SSB & CW at 200 mW. A great little compact project that I’m sure other members may have been interested in as well.
