Tech Nite 15 May

Brisbane-VHf-UHF-open-day

A busy Tech Nite last night. The bulk order of 9 and 10 metre squid poles was delivered – making lots of our members happy portable operators.

We’re planning a working bee at our Mt Cotton site Sat 27th May for antenna maintenance and upgrade. Our BDARS store is running with stocks of coax and connectors. Members are invited to let the committee know what items they would most liked stocked in our club store.

Ralf VK4GCR gave us a good summary of the recent VHF/UHF open Day at Redcliffe with the Brisbane VHF/UHF group. One highlight was the caravan mounted rotating VHF/Microwave tower arrangement brought by Graeme VK2QJ (see pic).

Our Guest Talk was by Martin VK4MCU on the Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network. This is all about re-purposing wifi equipment to establish a mesh data network on amateur bands. https://www.arednmesh.org/
